Full music lineup highlights Greenwich Town Party

Main event acts like Earth, Wind and Fire and The Doobie Brothers will not be taking the stage until later in the day but a full lineup of music will take to the stage Saturday at the Greenwich Town Party.

Anticipation has been growing throughout the day for the big name acts as local bands with Greenwich teenagers and local mainstays like Billy and the Showmen performed on Saturday. A full lineup of the bands is available online at http://www.greenwichtownparty.org/lineup/schedule/ and since tickets have been sold out for months, people can still hear the music at WGCH.

The Greenwich Town Party, which is now in its fifth year, has featured major musical acts in the past like Carlos Santana, James Taylor, Paul Simon and George Clinton. This year Earth, Wind and Fire will be the main headliner and is expected to go on stage at approximately at 8:30 p.m. The Doobie Brothers will be on at 6:25 p.m. and O.A.R., best known for their hit “Shattered” will be on at 4:20 p.m. after being introduced by Greenwich resident and “Howard Stern Show” producer Gary Dell’Abate.

But these bands will not be the only ones performing. Brunswick Music Improv, made up of Brunswick School students, took the stage early Saturday afternoon and will be followed throughout the day by groups like King’s Highway, Spirit Family Reunion, Skunk Rockets and Lions on the Moon.

The first part of the day focused heavily on kids and family activities but as the day gets later, it’s time for people to party heartier without their kids around. Many Greenwich families intended to come early in the event, have fun with their kids and then drop them off at home before coming back. That group included Eliza Armstrong who was attending the Greenwich Town Party for the first time this year.

“It’s great because the kids can have fun early in the day and then I can come back later with my husband,” Armstrong said.

I'm positive that Gary is the only homeowner in Greenwich, CT that knows Mets Trivia and can also floss with a jump rope...
