Got fucked how? With the music of the era? I would've loved to have been around when the Stones and the Beatles arrived in the U.S.

    That must've been awesome.

After seeing Steve Winwood on Friday, who sounded and played as good as he ever did, put me in a Massive Traffic/Blind Faith mode...

He has not lost a step...my 24 year old son went with me, he is very open to any music and appreciates talent, no matter the style.

He was mesmerized by the band and Steve...they actually go out and play improvisational solos, which is not something you see outside of Jazz or Blues anymore. Rock and Roll, as it should be played...the setlist is the same for the whole tour, but the songs are played differently every show.

    Here is the setlist:

fucked? no aids, legal pot, 'shrooms, lsd.? gasoline was $0.15/gal. rock bands that wrote original music and not just crap they sampled from other bands. rock musicians who could actually play their instruments? "free" love? did i mention "no aids"? commercial products designed to last for generations. nobody trying to convince people that rap is really music and not just a bunch of guys too lazy to learn to write music or play an instrument but insisting that they ought to be paid for not creating anything original and treating to kill cops and burn down their homes if they aren't paid for doing nothing? instead we had black artists with real musical talents producing some of the best rock in the last 60 years (motown).

    so, what have you got?

i grew up in the 60's. not sure about you but as i'm only in my 50's now i'm not exactly looking to buy a gravesite yet, and have another 20-30 years to go to do whatever the fuck i please. and in the next 20-30 years the life expectancy will get better because my peers and i are funding the research, unlike your peers who are too busy crying that you weren't left anything to inherit.

Low Spark, My Way Home. Nice. I used to love taking my nephew to shows.

I saw Los Lobos cover Mr Fantasy. It instantly became my favorite Traffic Tune.

I know it is a generational thing; and I don't fault anyone for their taste in music. I may not like it, but, my parents hated the shit I listened too, and I really did not like much of the stuff my kids were into when they were teens.

As for Steve, will, that dude just operates on another level musically...he was smart enough to stay away from all the shit that destroyed the talent of many of his peers...

might be generational, but i'm not sure as far as rap goes. i appreciate hip hop and its derivatives because that is really music with both melody and rhythm, but i see rap as entitlement music: "our ancestors were slaves therefore we shouldn't have to learn music to make the big bucks" and it disgusts me.

I grew up in the 60s. I was able to leave my house on my bicycle early in the morning with my buddies and stay out all day without my parents thinking a thing about it or worrying about me getting kidnapped. Having only 3 channels on the TV was probably a blessing in disguise. As other have said, it was the best of times for music.

thats ok i don't hold it against you.

some of my favorite girlfriends grew up in the 1990s. it's not their fault, and it is fun to show them the original music from the 60's and 70's the current artists rip off to make their tracks.
