True, they mostly suck (Kevin Smith was awful today), but at least they're trying to offer some live content among all the repeats. Can you imagine Howard allowing a guest host? Never will happen. Probably because whoever guest hosted the Stern Show would probably be 10x funnier than Howie!

Wiggy used to point out that Jay & Dave never used guest hosts. Carson used them all the time (including Dave and Jay).
I admit the O+J guest hosts have mostly sucked...at least they try to program their (one) channel. Sometimes Opie's off, sometimes Jimmy's off. They at least try to provide SOME live content. Sometimes Opie does a live afternoon show, which also blows but at least they TRY to program their channel.

Once they had THSS in the Morning, Bubba afternoons, Ferrall at night, and fresh shows each night at 7pm. All gone now.

When Howard first came to Philly, and he went on an extended vacation, the radio station hired comic Rich Schiedner and DJ Debbie Calton to be the morning drive team during his absence.

Rich cracked wise about comedy clubs and his life, Debbie yucked it up and read the news.

When Howard came back, he ripped everybody a new asshole. I am sure a mandate was sent out and new language was added to contracts that no replacement shows would be used in place of Howard.

I remember some of the 7 pm shows: Zito, Martling, Fat Guys Show, Fast Food Show, Back Office Radio, and on and on. All gone! Thanks, Marci!

I like some of Kevin Smith's jay and silent bob movies but holy crap is he an unfunny guy in real life. He thinks he's Don Rickles too

101 also had a tiny operating budget. Bubba and Ferrel were the only shows that actually cost money and once they were gone it still functioned as a channel for about 2 more years on a $0 budget
