I have a couple of firearms I am trying to get rid of. Legally, of course. I would only know how to sell a gun if I could put it on eBay, so I am a little lost on how to go about this.

To anyone that has sold guns before... where can I avoid getting fucked and get the most value?

thank you, i'll hang up and listen..

You cant sell firearms on ebay but you can on gunbrokers.com
its kind of a pain in the ass

in florida you do not need any kind of paperwork to do a person to person gun sale transaction.

what i mean is you could sell me a gun and you'd just give me a reciept and thats it you are not required to do any paperwork for one private person to sell a gun to another. that said i might copy down the persons DL # just in case because if its used in a crime the police will come to the last person who bought it from a broker

so you can put an add in the paper. gun sales are not allowed on craigslist but maybe there are other websites for person to person gun sales. I have also got offers to trade a gun for things ive sold on CL like guitars or automobiles and equipment.

Unless it is rare or high demand you will get a fair price from most reputable gun dealers. I sold my Taurus 9mm and got only $100 less than what I paid

PM me what you are looking to unload and how much I might be interested depending on what you got.

Watcha got, Rob? Illinois is very similar to Florida. Just keep a receipt and get a copy of their FOID card if your state requires you to have one. Penis is correct, in case @PI Nate shows up at your door inquiring about a crime, you want to be able to point @PI Nate to someone other than yourself.

First thing is the get the guns appraised.
Take it to a local gun shop and sell in on consignment-Gun shop will take 10 to 20% of the sale.
    or sell it online.

Don't do anything until you get it appraised.

Least hassle is at a gun show or in your local classifieds, you can also put them on consignment at most gun stores.

I've sold guns to gun shops, obviously you're not getting top dollar, but to me it's worth it to have a legal transaction w/ a paper trail. I've gotten about 60 cents on the dollar, not great but not that bad.

Local gun stores are probably the easiest option because you are in and out. Larger outdoors stores such as Gander Mountain are also an option. They can give you cash or store credit. If you go with the store credit they will likely give you more than they would with a cash buy. Those stores are huge and you could buy some items that weren't firearm related.

If you were willing to put in more work search for your state's top gun related website with message board. For instance, in Michigan with have migunowners.com They have tons of information on State and Local laws. They also have a message board with a For Sale section. There you can list it and try to find a local buyer. Just look for the site specific to your state.

    Good luck.

Call the police, report that you accidentally left your firearm in your vehicle, and that your vehicle was burglarized overnight. Give the responding officer your information and the information about the (stolen*) gun you wish to sell. Now the gun you own is reported stolen, and you aren't responsible for it. Take the firearm to the "hood" and get 300% on the dollar LOL
I'm only joking, but that's what happens everyday in America, don't ask me how I know :)

    You can thank me later

    http://www.gunbroker.com/

Be aware you have to ship to a licensed gun dealer and background check is done on the buyer, this is a legal way to sell.

It really depends on the state you live and the state you're selling to. Inner state sales are much easier to deal with than state to state sales.

I do Craigslist (or my gun club); meet in a public place. Bring DL, and Permit To Carry. Have a contract, 2 copies, with gun description, serial and requiring two signatures.

Sell it through an FFL holder. Minimal fee, you can sell them anywhere in the country and there is a nice legal paper trail.

Don't take less than $500 for that Ruger, if it's in good condition.
Great little hunting rifle, if I lived closer I'd buy it.

durysguns.com, upload a couple pics via their form and they will quote you a very fair price and send you a UPS prepaid box. Probably much higher than your local shop. Seriously, try them first.
