    It was awesome.

I saw it in 2D because I would have had to wait another 30 minutes for the 3D. If you are an old school Star Trek fan, you'll love this. The Spock - Kirk friendship develops, Bones gets in some good scenes. There is even a gratuitous underwear scene that doesn't really contribute to the movie in any way except for the space boner factor. Several references to older episodes. The villain is a familiar one but completely rebooted. Lots of action.

I give this movie 4 1/2 phaser blasts out of 5. :coffee:

Would it be worth seeing in 3D?

There would be some shots that will look sick in 3D but I would see 2D.

Didn't you read it? I said that the villain was a reboot. There was really no reason to give him that name except it kind of provided a background. I wish they'd done something to explain his different appearance. The Klingons looked different too. Also in one of the earlier Star Trek movies, Uhura was unable to speak Klingon. In this one she can.

I'm not a big 3D fan. It was actually shot in 2D Imax and then converted to 3D. I don't know if that makes a difference.

They totally de-fanged him to point where they had a scene where old Spock has to say "he was the single greatest threat the enterprise ever faced. We defeated him at great cost." And that one dude uses him for basically drive bys? They should have kept him as jonathon Harrison. And the main reason for his actions was to free his leader. That would be a sweet setup for the next movie and rebooted the villain while keeping him dangerous.

I liked the last one better. I'm just so salty over the villain in this one.

I also thought it was great. I didn't mind the villan reboot so much but yes, it did have some holes but overall the movie was much better than the ADD infected Iron Man 3. The banter between Kirk, Spock, Bones, and Scotty was really good and I loved how they threw in some references to the original TV series. I am probably going to go see it again on Sunday with some friends.

Dan, what snacks do you get when you go to the movies? My go to is pretzel bites with cheese, buncha crunch and a coke. I am not a big popcorn fan.
