WTF Gym Rats: Pulled abdominal muscles really suck

    Pulled muscle doing lunges 2-3 months ago and it's been nagging me ever since. Think I'd be in much more pain if it was torn. Anyone have experience with this?

    I've got an injury that's only JUST started to heal after at least 4 months. Nothing to do but wait it out ...

    It didn't help that I kept doing heavy lunges until two wks ago. Waiting game it is

    Please dont force it.

    I know how it feels to be injured, unable to get to the gym or having to work out at less than normal capacity.

    Are you in constant pain/discomfort?

    The one thing I've learned, if nothing else, is that you have to allow the injury to heal.

    Not constant, can easily still function. Going to give it few wks of no lunges. Probably have to let up on abs as well. I've had broken bones and it's helpless feeling not being able to work out

    Very true - that's the ONLY thing that helps when I'm hurting from a workout

    I'm not fan of taking lots of aleve, Tylenol, etc. I do take it from time to time

    I have the same in my lower right back for a few weeks now. I'm sort of just working around it (when I'm not squating, deadlifting or rowing). :badger:
    Funnily, if I'm very deliberate and use very good form with back lifts, the added blood flow to the area actually makes it feel better. I've mostly replaced the deadlifts with rack pulls (as it bothers me more when I'm bending more at the hips) for now.
    That said..i have no idea.
