Shhhhhhhh..... Don't tell anybody, but Robert De Niro might be the most overrated actor in Hollywood. His 'cool' factor has let him get away with mediocre performances (basically playing the same character) in shitty films for way too long. Athletes have to retire when they can no longer perform, but for some reason, actors keep getting handed scripts.

Good actor on film, but have you ever seen him hosting Saturday Night Live? Fucking amazingly bad.

He has the personality of a goldfish.

Whenever I've seen him on talk shows he's brutally boring & unfunny.

I know he's been in some clinkers, but every actor that's been working for over 40 years has their share. Here's a short list of DeNiro's work: Mean Streets, Godfather 2, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino....Please explain how Travis Bickle, Don Corelone and his portrayal of Jake LaMotta is the "same character".

I don't think this is the same character. DeNiro might not be the best of the last 50 years (Jack may have been better more consistently) but DeNiro probably influenced actors the same way Brando did, by changing how they acted.

Dude, I was being sarcastic....you couldn't interchange Rupert Pupkin with DeNiro's character in the Deer Hunter and have essentially the same performance is all I'm saying...you could have an easier argument saying that Pacino's yelling and screaming "character" has been the same over the last 20 years.
