Has any celebrity gone out of their way to get people to hate them more than Howard?

    I can't think of any.

But a lot of people who loved him now hate him.

All the fans he pissed on are now shitting on him.

Fuck him and the horse he rode in on. :whythelongface?:

You have to remember that the few hundred people on here and SFN only represent a minuscule percentage of Stern's fan base.

There's no doubt he has become less relevant (just compare the Letterman rating from this most recent appearance to the numbers he could draw at his peak) but the guy is winding down his career anyways.

I'll keep listening as a loyal fan until the day Howard calls it quits... And I'd say there are still far more fans who continue to find some level of entertainment in the show than those who've given up on Howard, but who the hell knows?

Also, even though I hate those fucking talent shows, I'll at least check out AGT because of Howard's involvement and I think other Stern fans will too.

Oh yeah even people who hate him are gonna watch that trainwreck to see his teef and wig and see him out of the shadows for once. I hope he gets a full facelift and looks like Bruce Jenner.

I think the ratings will spike for a couple of shows with a strong Stern curiosity factor, but I'm not 100% convinced AGT will see significant ratings growth for the full season.

it's a small percent, but it's a much larger percentile than most professional polls that are considered accurate. it's very representative. i knew 8 people in my personal life who were major stern fans. they all stopped listening. they aren't posting on websites that he sucks, because they don't care enough to. the people on these sites that you consider haters, are howards main fan base now.
you think wrong, i won't watch it. if he was doing a gay porno i guess you would watch that too.

The closest I can think of is metallica, and they're nowhere near as bad as Howard was. Still, load/reload, st. Anger, lulu, etc

First off, as I said I'm going to check out the first couple of AGT shows and if Howard's enough to keep me watching, I will but those talent shows usually aren't my kind of thing...We'll see...

As far Howard and the show, I don't think he's done anything "wrong" per say...
The guy's older now and decided to work a reduced schedule vs. retiring. Sure the show is far from the cutting edge program it was 10 years ago, I wouldn't debate that with anyone but I still find enough entertainment to keep listening. I haven't taken the change in the show's dynamics as a personal "fuck you" to the fans from Howard. The guy is 57 years old and has different priorities in life now. And if you're a long time fan you know THSS has ALWAYS been about what Howard is interested in.

I do believe that once Howard retires from show business, we won't see much of him at all. So regardless of what he does (with the exception of gay porn), I'm with him until the bitter end...

BTW, unless this guy is in a Neilsen household, whether he watches or not means very little... None of us can "give him ratings" unless we're in that small group which is measured...

I'm not and if I was I would make sure to turn on a different channel and catch it later online on a bootleg video site.

I meant a reduced radio schedule...BTW, his radio days are even less than last year...It's pretty obvious he's drifting away from the radio gig he's had for over 30 years...

I think Howard's doing the AGT thing because he thought it would be fun (we'll see what he thinks of it once the work really starts)...He seems eager to try something new...

Howard has lied to his audience, become lazy, given nothing back to his fans, went cheap with his staff, decided not to fill the Artie Chair, H101 is a joke, is a world class hypocrite, etc. it's amazing people stick up for Howard.

I can see how you might not get people because frankly you seem a little simple minded...

You see, I don't give a shit about Howard Stern the man. I don't know him, don't care to know him, don't look up to him or anything like that...

I'm a fan of THSS and it's provided me with countless hours of entertainment since the WNBC days... That being said, the show is akin to the car wash I frequent...I've gone to the same one for awhile now and they generally do a good job... Every now and then they don't do so well, but on balance I still feel I get a good value for my money.

It's the same with THSS...It's an entertainment service which I pay for...Even though it's not the same as it once was, I still feel the value for my money is sufficient to keep the service...Simple as that...

In both cases, if I felt that the service provided didn't match what I was looking for, I'd make a change...You see I'm not one of these people who thinks they have some special connection with a celebrity and feels "they know them" or that "they know me"...I'm a super fan of THE SHOW and I guess you could call me "loyal" since I've been listening for so long, but that's where it ends...

Oh and BTW, if I saw Howard on the street, I might stare at him for a second as I would any celebrity, but I wouldn't even attempt to talk with him as I don't make a habit of approaching perfect strangers and treating them as though I know them...

    1. Nope, he's done nothing wrong. Besides changing his behavior to appeal to a few dozen celebutards rather than the listeners that pay his salary and made him famous. Becoming phoney in many phases of the show and in life. Repealing the "tell the truth and they will love you" policy. Adopting a Politically Correct mindset and tossing out the word "racist/homophobe/bigot/redneck" etc at anyone who doesn't nod in agreement. Repeatedly making statements on air about this or that, then forgetting and contradicting those statements later. Pontificating on political and societal issues w/o putting in the effort to understand them. Using his show to promote his wife's career, despite disparaging others for doing exactly the same thing. Making statements that indicate he puts no value on human beings who aren't rich or famous enough. Faking liking movies and music based on who pays him as show sponsors. ETC ETC

    2. I agree it's reasonable to cut back hours on a show he's bored by now and that he has a right to mature. I also agree the show can still be entertaining.

    3. With true maturity should come avoiding rants against people for petty personal reasons, bad mouthing those you feel can't hurt you back just to fill segments with Robin, and laughing at celebs whose career heights have passed, as if being popular 30 years ago but not when you're 70 means you're a loser.
