I'm gonna guess that the spilled paint fucked with the battery system and it's all going to need replacing? Replacing batteries in any of these electric/hybrid cars is a very expensive proposition.

Ask me if I care. I was quoted $1500 to replace the evaporator coil in my wife's Grand Cherokee yesterday. $165 part rest is labor

I don't trust people's estimate on battery replacements. The same people who say that are the same people who would say jap cars take a long time and are expensive to fix because you can't get parts, air bags are more dangerous to have and that anti-lock brakes are bad.

How the hell does this happen? I realize batteries need air to off-gas, but shouldn't they be insulated from the passenger compartment and/or trunk?

fuck that bro, do it yourself. get the coil and a filter/dryer. run nitrogen through the system while you braze in the new coil (the nitrogen prevents oxidation while brazing). evac the entire system to vacuum for at least 8 hours. break the vac with nitrogen. repeat 3 times to assure all moisture purged from system. charge system and enjoy.

    easy peasy

Why would he put the paint containers under the hood instead of in the trunk? :weird:
