I watched this last night, and man, was it grim. It follows a small group of young adults who are heroin addicts in the Cape Cod area. Most of them started out on painkillers (some with legal prescriptions after an accident, operation, etc.), and progressed to full blown IV addicts. They all seem to come from lower-middle class families, and complain that there is nothing to do in their small towns, so this seemed like a good diversion at first.
The girls (most of whom are pretty attractive) steal from relatives, shoplift, strip, hook up with random guys and steal their wallets, and turn tricks. The guys rob random people (targeting tourists), deal drugs, shoplift, etc. All end up in rehab, jail, prison, or dead. A couple of them seemed to be clean at the end.
    Has anyone else seen this?

I love watching crime-based reality shows, so I recommend it. I used to love the old "Life of Crime" documentaries HBO did in the 80s & 90s.

It's insane how bad heroine is. I had a friend as a teenager that would never touch a drug. He was hit by a drunk driver and got busted up pretty bad. He was give painkillers. As an adult he was a complete heroine addict. Terrible, these Drs that prescribe these drugs like candy should be held accountable.

I went to high school in a small town, so I get the "nothing to do" syndrome, especially in winter. We drank, and some kids smoked weed, but for the most part all the kids in my class turned out well (had a reunion this summer). Most of us left town to go to college and/or find jobs. Those who did stay got jobs as mechanics, hairdressers, etc., settled down and started a family. I can't imagine as many kids in a small town turning into drug fiends as the HBO kids did.

People who abuse painkillers fuck it up for people who really need them. Doctors become afraid to prescribe them. Thank God when I broke my ankle and a vetabre the doctors gave me what I needed. I'm still in some pain but I'm not taking any. Saving them for the next time I fuck up.

Watch it..... I lived it 20 years ago, in the heroine capital of the country, Baltimore city.

By the grace of God i made it thru it. A good family saved my life, plus a judge (I'll never forget him, judge Littman) was tired of seeing me in his court and told me he could make me disappear. I took him at his word.

During my use, pain killers weren't really around... I tried heroin because cocaine would keep me awake all night, and the H would put me to sleep. Well every time I did coke, 3 or 4 times a week I would have $10 of H.... As time went on I noticed I didn't feel too well during the day.... I HAD THE MONKEY ON MY BACK.

It was a hard 2 years or so, but 20 some years later I can say I'm so lucky I made it thru without losing my life.

Still love my beer though... no hard liquor or shots.

I will try and catch this On Demand thanks...

I'm downloading it now--under protest. It seems like all these heroin documentaries are the same. If you've seen one, you've seen them all.

Let me know what you think. I thought it was really well done, and a couple of the scenes really shook me.

Saw most of it this morning. Seemed like those kids had it pretty good before they started fucking around with heroin.
I would quit just to get away from all of the day to day drama. Fuck that. Every little thing is a major issue for them.
No gas in the car, flat tire on the other car. Just one thing after another. Rather than deal with it they just get high and bitch about it.

    It depends.
I was on my motorcycle on a beautiful Sunday afternoon when I heard a loud noise and found myself cartwheeling through the air like a rag doll.
I came to rest in a ditch and immediately knew things were bad.
A car ran a stop sign and broadsided me at @40 mph.

This was over two years ago and I'm still getting surgeries. I'll spare the details.
The latest was an elbow replacement in March.
The DEA is the one causing problems for the doctors. They pressure the doctors into taking us off pain meds when it's the only way we can feel somewhat ok.
My doctor says fuck off to the DEA and prescribes me whatever will help.
But many doctors won't. That leaves one alternative. Heroin.
People are making laws that have never been through jack shit.

There's a metal joint in there. (Click to enlarge if you want) I have a bunch of other stuff too, but you'll get the idea. It's still bent and mangled.
