Both had remarried but after both of their spouses died recently they reconnected. A Walmart employee got popped the question at work — by the ex-husband she divorced 43 years ago. Renate Stumpf was on duty at the store in Fort Smith, Arkansas, on Valentine's Day when her ex now turned fiancé Louis Demetriades showed up and proposed, KFSM reported. The 75-year-old was caught on camera bursting out laughing and initially refusing to re-tie the knot with the man who'd driven up from Memphis for the special occasion. But she then immediately changed her mind, and said, "Yes, but not today." The couple first set eyes on each other in 1959, when they were both 18, at an Army base in Germany, Fox News reported. Soldier Demetriades pursued kitchen worker Stumpf until they embarked on a romantic relationship. They moved to the U.S. and ended up having three children together. But after 13 years they divorced. "We had little financial support, I didn't know anything and I could barely speak English," Stumpf told ABC News, adding: "We started arguing about every little thing." Both remarried, but their respective spouses recently passed away. They then reconnected over Facebook in December. "When we saw each other again last December, we knew right then we still loved each other for sure," Stumpf said.
