The catch is that in Stern's first year there was, according to Entertainment Weekly, an 18% drop in ratings, the next two years have been stable or marginally better compared to the first year Howard was there.

What a liar. If the ratings are better why did they do three weeks of him going over the ratings and then stop because he couldn't spin how they were a disaster anymore?

How can he say that? There is zero data to support that claim and it is just not the truth.

More and more callers are getting on the air and pleading with Howard not to go back to AGT. Today a guy even said, "You should be using your time painting and doing your photography instead of doing AGT. The show is beneath you; you're the biggest celebrity in the world." Howard did not disagree. I can't imagine Howard would allow all of these "Don't go back to AGT" calls through if he knew he was going back. He maintains that he has no idea what his next move will be, but that he has to make a decision "soon" (which he's been saying for months now).

Buchwald is not instructing Hein to lie about AGT ratings so he can get NBC to pay Stern more

Enough of the "cliff hanger" crap from Howie...he is going back to AGT. He isn't going to turn down the money, and it keeps his face on TV. I don't think there is a "bidding war" these days for Stern, so a cheap summer fill-in show is perfect for him. It's not like he is being put on a fall/winter primetime show...aside from cooking shows, he is on the only live/first run show on TV in the summer. He will take this AGT contract...ride out his Sirius contract next year, and next year at this time, we will all be wondering what direction he will be taking his career. Will he stay on at Sirius? Probably..again, I don't think Buchwold's phone is ringing much for Howie these days so his options are limited. He should just be honest and do what Limbaugh does..and do the HSS from his Florida home. He doesn't have to start it at 6 am anymore...just do a few hours a day..mid mornings..and enjoy life....instead of still wanting to be that "morning drive" guy.

It's funny how Hein could say that though...this year's ratings were the lowest in the history of AGT. I don't expect honesty on the HSS anymore, but the best thing Hein could have said about ratings was.........nothing.

Howard needs one more year to kill the show.
Howard is the king of AGT series lows.
Under the Stern AGT administration the key demo has been decimated.

Agree with most except there is nothing "cheap" about AGT.
It cost more to put on that show in RCMH & things like Stern's salary, production, etc. than it does a reality cooking show or shit like that!

True...but its "cheap" in comparison to shows like NCIS, Chicago Fire..things like that. AGT did spend more money to get Stern...they have his salary to deal with in comparison to Piers, and they had to move the show to NYC and rent a theater....instead of shooting the show on the NBC lot in LA. They keep paying him, and keep paying the rent...so they must be content with the expenditures it took to have "America's Judge" on the panel.

I have always said...if they moved the show back to LA, shot it on the NBC lot, and hired Carrot Top or Bret Michaels, the ratings would be as good or better than they are with Stern.

Stern is staying...he needs to stop this cliff hanger stuff and just announce what he is going to do. At this point, nobody cares. I remember when Robin was in "negotiations" to come back to the HSS after the first contract....like she thought anybody cared if she came back or not. They do this cliff hanger stuff all the time...and in the old days it worked, but now? Nobody cares.

Do really know what Howard is being paid? I think it's b.s. he's making a ton of money on the show. He has a vested interest in making people believe he's getting paid top dollar the same for that third rate "talent" show, they don't want to appear to be cheap. From his lisping, creepy looks, inane hand signals, and stupid unfunny commentary who is he appealing to?

Celebrities still suck up to him out of the outdated fear that he will attack them for 4 hours daily on the radio--but as we know he doesn't have the capability to do that anymore.
