I asked in the Bar but came up with nuthin. :jj:

I'll try with you fine citizens.

Hello kind people of Earth. I am trying to create a 3D model for printing purposes. I have very little experince with it, so my first idea was to try Sketchup, which I've used plenty of times for wood projects.

The layout here is basically what I need to achieve. A rectangular shape, with a void section in the middle. For this example I made the void a circle. I need to be able to make that void custom shaped. Text, or an image outline mostly. Is there anyway to do that in Sketchup, or do I need to be looming at other options?

For Sketchup, you simply draw a circle onto the surface, then choose the Push/Pull tool to increase or decrease the size of that selection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :hat:

Looks like a simple extrude to me.

Autocad works fine with the subtract and union features. Extrude let's you form the footprint, then add depth to it.

I have a 3d project as well and would appreciate any help. I want to print an exact 3d duplicate of Scarlett Johansson. I'd like a complete in scale identical reproduction of her body, but if the modeling is too hard for that then I'll settle for her head, tits, and ass/vagina. Nevermind why: I have my reasons.

    Check out OnShape.

It's basically a Cloud based version of SolidWorks.
Much better and more powerful than Sketchup.

Crap, I was excited when I read the title but I've only used Sketchup once. If it was about Maya or 3DS Max or Zbrush I could've helped. Checked out your pens, cool shit!
