PATTERSON, Ga. — A former Ware County High School teacher has been arrested and charged with sexual assault by a person with supervisory or disciplinary authority. Tera Ashley Horne, 32, received the felony charge after it was discovered she had a relationship with an 18-year-old male student, according to the Ware County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say they were made aware of the allegations several days before the arrest. A witness came forward and officials say that person reported their suspicions to detectives. Horne reportedly resigned her position from the Ware County School System on December 17, according to officials. "Since my office learned of the incident, Ware County School officials have been extremely helpful during this investigation," said Ware County Sheriff Randy Royal. "Additionally, I want to be as clear as the law is on this point: Age nor consent of the victim is applicable in a situation like this. The students, our children, in schools from Kindergarten to twelfth grade will be protected and off-limits to those that would prey upon them."
