Howard has a history of wanting a hit song and has had some embarrassing attempts. Do you remember the 90's attempt with "You get me high" ft John, Howard and Fred? It was horrible. I can't seem to find the show it was on, but if anyone can give me a date, I'll pull it out of the archives and post the audio. Very cringe-worthy.

You can get a taste of it here at 3:35. Bonus: Best of the worst show songs, including Howard on steel drums and Gary on trumpet!

The current intro theme and Tortured man are actually good, but not hits (and Howard had very little participation).

Does anyone remember when Howard sung "Everlong"? Sounds so faggy. Really bad
I don't have high hopes for the new "hit"

"The Gay Way" was the best song that came out of the show.

The difference is that The Gay Way was an obvious parody. These other songs are genuine embarrassing failed attempts at making real music.

It's kind of like when they would catch Robin really trying to sing back in the day, then play it on air. Waaaayyyyy funnier than now, when she's in on the joke and just goes over the top for comedic sake.

Psychedelic Bee was his best hit.

I have to agree. His childhood songs were not too bad!

Howard had a song back in the 80s and for the life of me I can't find it anywhere. It was no better or worse than anything popular at the time. It was something probably not heard much out of the NY market, as it was in the early days of K-Rock, when little or no syndication was going on. So in the 1986-1988 range?

Local NY Morning Zoo guy Scott Shannon sent him a note of congratulations on it, which Howard read on the air with much disdain. I have not heard the song played nor any mention of it since then.

Howie really seemed to think “When Beth Smiles” might become a hit.

The irony is that it is exactly what he mocked: no talent celebrities thinking that they were capable of having a hit song.

Perhaps he could form a "super group" with Corey Feldman and Tina Youthers.

However, "Jackie bend over" was changed to "Artie bend over" for several years and not until the Labor Day Clip Weekend was the original version again aired. That was before the show completely turned to shit and the tapes were not completely sanitized.

The "gay way" was a great parody song, catchy too. This cover everlong is just awful, should be buried in the deep, deep, web.

“On the Road”? Or similar to that. It was a blatant copy of Adam Raised a Cain. Years later Jackie was making fun of it but Howard insisted it was done jokingly which it wasn’t. Of course Jackie refused to kiss ass and continued to needle him.

Didn't he try to get a cover of "Spirit in the Sky" over for a while? I know he often prattles about how it sustained Norman Greenbaum all his life.
