Big Pharma deaths on the other hand.

A total of 17,465 people died from overdosing on illicit drugs like heroin and cocaine last year, while 25,760 people died from overdosing on prescription drugs, including painkillers and tranquilizers like Valium, according to CDC figures.

Opioid overdose levels rose so sharply in 2014 -- spiking 14 percent from the previous year -- the CDC described the levels as "epidemic."

"More persons died from drug overdoses in the United States in 2014 than during any previous year on record," the CDC reported earlier this month.

Alcohol, an even more accessible substance, is killing Americans at a rate not seen in roughly 35 years, according to a Washington Post analysis of federal data. The more than 30,700 Americans who died from alcohol-induced causes last year doesn't include alcohol-related deaths like drunk driving or accidents; if it did, the death toll would be more than two and a half times higher.

According to a widely cited 2006 report in American Scientist, "alcohol is more lethal than many other commonly abused substances." The report further puts the lethality of various substances in perspective:

The most harmless drug remains illegal in America :jj:

Should be 100% legal and handled the same way alcohol is.

You could change that thread title to # of people who have died from marijuana OD in all recorded history, not just 2015.

It may be illegal at the time, but not for long. I never thought id see it legal in my lifetime. I'm happy its legal here. (Seattle) I think it will be legal everywhere in the next ten years or so.

Statewise, where do you live? I was under the impression that you lived in a state where it was legal.

u can't cite the case about DUI deaths with alcohol but then not mention that with weed.

Driving on weed is way harder than drunk driving. I'm sure there's thousands of weed driving deaths that go unnoticed every year.

Alcohol and prescription drugs are really bad for society in many ways but that doesn't make weed a "good" thing. It's just a lesser evil.

i'm in arizona. i'm a legal medical user. i want to be a legal user, user. truth be told...i don't really need it for medical purposes. unless mental well being, feeling good and being happy are medical reasons.

Here in Jersey, medical is allowed but the qualifications are pretty damn brutal. I'm just glad that one of my best friends since grade school is my guy and I haven't seen a seed in at least ten years.
