This really is the best dramatic show on in the past decade..and season 3 starts in 2+ hours on BBC One with stories post-Rickenback Falls.

I love the books and Jeremy Brett era, and Moffat too--I've just been waiting for enough episodes to build up before getting into it

last year each season was selling for $20 each. today they are $27 for the boxed set of both, or $17 for one season and $14 for the other, on itunes.

Moffat and Gatis (the show runners for Dr Who) decided to take the original stories and bring them into the 21st century. They maintain the personal relationships and the characterizations Doyle created in the original stories but place the stories in today's world. The two are in love with Sherlock and do probably the best interpretation of the original works I've ever seen, combined with the storyline of Billy Wilder's The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. The character interrelations are great, and the back stories are pure Doyle. The way they portray Moriarty and Irene Adler bring the two to life, and you really get to understand the relationship between Sherlock and Mycroft (played by Gattis).

This show and the acting in it, is the reason both leads were picked for the recent Star Trek and Hobbit movies. (Cumberpatch plays Kahn, the necomancer, and Smaug. Martin Freeman plays Bilbo Baggins)

Everything about this show is spectacular. The camera work, editing and compositing are on fucking point. Love it.
