Gap introduces a line of scarves for hetero men, it makes up 4% of their sales of scarves.[IMG]

"Straight, non-European men have just been granted a new item for their winter fashion arsenal by the
Gap. Men can now wear scarves without the stigma of being gay or European thanks to a clever logo."

Pretty sure Howard's scarves don't have the "I'm a hetero man" stamp on his.

This I found on some forum...somebody was asking people's opinion of hetero men wearing scarves.
Here are the comments...some are pretty funny.

How do you ladies see a guy who wears a scarf not so much because it's cold out, but more as a 'fashion-accessory' during winter.

Completely heterosexual, metrosexual, or just a flat 'no-no' for any straight guy?

Personally, as a guy, I'm against it, as are most of my friends. But I'm interested in hearing what women think.

edit: I knew 'scarfs' looked funny when I typed it.. hehe

well i'm a guy, and if it's not freezing cold outside, it screams of raging homosexuality to me.

but i am completely out of the loop when it comes to fashion, so whadda i know right? [IMG]

Ahhh this is a tricky one....
If the guy is really trendy and confident then maybe he can pull it off without looking like a complete and utter wanker.

But mostly it's a no from me.

hey, I'm a guy and I like wearing scarfs. And not because of style....I'm anything but fashion savy. They work well at helping keep warm.

Scarfs (scarves?) should be worn to either retain heat, or profess your raging homosexuality.

lol this is crazy talk... I know plenty of straight guys, myself included, who can rock scarfs.

    ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hahaha!!! =D

i much prefer to zip up my jacket or fleece instead. i do have a scarf (was a present years ago) but don't think i've ever worn it.

I think scarves look like absolute shit on guys. A total turn off.

This is compounded by the fact that silly Asians in tropical countries would wear scarves over T-SHIRTS in the middle of a 50-degree day!!! FUCK, as if you weren't such a turnoff in the first place!

    Maybe I'm straight [IMG].

As a chick, I like men who wear nice clothes (not necessarily expensive, just neat looking), don't wear sneakers to everything, and I hate sandals on men.
When a man starts to 'accessorize', I get concerned.

Spot on Anf. If a guy wears a scarf that serves a function...that is fine.

It depends upon the scarf you wear. If it's a shemagh then there is nothing wrong with it, winter or summer. Men are totally masculine while wearing them:

if a woman wears a shemagh it is totally feminine:

of course John Varvatos does not sell shemaghs; Varvatos sells metrosexual (ie. gay & faggit) scarfs, just right for Howard.

The only guy I know that wore a scarf that it actually served a function (aside from the weather) was a junkie I knew who wore a scarf around his neck because he shot up in the veins in his neck. He was a skinny guitar player, rock and roller druggie, so it he actually pulled it off.

pretty much every soldier in the middle east knows why you wear scarfs in the summer now. they all order them and wear them day and night, and use them where they used to use a bandana.

Those serve a function. Pretty sure there are no sandstorms in the upper east side that Howard has to protect himself from.:D

As I grew up in So.Cal., I NEVER needed a scarf for obvious reasons. Now that I live in Europe, there are maybe a half dozen times a year I'll wear one, and that is only because of extreme cold situations. And most of those times are when we are high in the Alps on ski vacations.

One thing for sure, I'll never wear it like this douche bag:

I wrap it once around my neck and tuck the tails in my coat and then zip up.

you wear them to keep the sun off your neck. if howard actually went out in the sunlight the scarf would be useful. they actually wear them in the desert not because of the sand which gets into everything no matter what you wear, but for the dust which is everywhere all day and night. there are no pollution controls in the middle east and the air is full of fun dirt, kind of like Mexico used to be (maybe still is). the shemagh is the dust filter when worn over the mouth and nose, and the sun block when worn around the neck and over the head. its bigger than a bandana so soldiers prefer it. its also dirt cheap (they sell for about $10 each here).

I keep one in my day-bag and a couple in a bugout bag because they are so useful and because i burn so easily. in the winter i wear wool: thick, heavy and long wool or acrylic scarfs. fuck style, i'm cold.

i think fasionable scarfs for men are silly.

howard wears black on black. if he went out in NYC summers like that all that would be left is a puddle and a wig.
