"Robin, Beth and I were thinking that our duplex on the West Side is not large enough to house our growing collection of felines. I need a place on the East Side to compliment my growing collection of unused residences......Robin, are you there??"

Triplet Townhouses on New York’s Upper East Side Seek $120 Million

    The Wall Street Journal

    By CANDACE TAYLOR
    June 4, 2015 3:51 p.m. ET

Three nearly identical Manhattan townhouses are listing together for $120 million with the idea that they could be combined into a single, 30,000-square-foot home, real-estate agents said.

The adjacent limestone buildings have more than 70 feet of frontage on East 62nd Street, according to Sabrina Saltiel of Douglas Elliman Real Estate, who is listing the property along with Elliman’s Raphael De Niro. Ms. Saltiel said the buildings are all owned by the same entity, though she declined to identify the owner. The properties aren’t available for sale individually.

The three six-story buildings are divided into 13 apartments, but can be delivered vacant, she said. There are a combined 23 fireplaces, 11 terraces and two roof decks. The buildings were renovated in 2011 and are currently serviced by the same doorman, she said.

No bowling alley lanes? Howard (probably Beth, but Howard has to appear to have some balls) says no dice unless the lanes are in there prior to purchase.

3 residences that only total 90 feet of street frontage? That means each residence is only 30' wide. How can you build a nice house in a 30' wide space? I'm in the process of building a new house now and it barely fits on my 130' wide lot, and my house will be well under $1M. They want $120M for 3 single wide trailers next to each other? Fucking ponderous.

This is going to sound like I'm being a bit of a stickler, Rupert, and I assure you that is not my intention, but we must be careful not to conflate fireplaces with chimneys -- to the extent that multiple fireplaces can be serviced by a single chimney. Ergo Wiggy and the Beard may still have this place beat.

We take great pride in the accuracy of our HSS mocking here. ;) :D

Location, Location, Location - you can't compare one of the most sought after areas of Manhattan with some derelict rat infested lot in Hill Billy Central.

You're right. But I've got an acre in an exclusive estate neighborhood in an uppity suburb of Dallas with no crime in a state with a booming economy and no state income tax. Tell me again why I would want to live in Manhattan?

Mainly status, the Manhattan house is in the middle of all the action and is probably a good investment.

Yeah, but I'd have to live around a bunch of liberal Yankees, give up all of my guns, and have no place to park my 5 cars, motorcycle and boat. I think I'll stick with my hillbilly Texas life.

According to Richard Christy, they have some of the nation's best dining including a White Castle AND a Papa John's within walking distance.

Your primary residence is never an investment since you have to live somewhere.

    There's no accounting for taste.

You can buy beach front mansions where the sand is pure white for less than they pay in property tax each year, just so they can have their chauffeur run in and get a delicious bagel more conveniently.

How quickly people forget 2006-2009. "It's an investment!" A lot of people invested themselves into a job at Walmart in their 70's.
