So I was bored and was searching through Craigslist and found a dude looking to trade a '78 Ford F100 4x4 for a similar condition/vintage Chevy. I was looking for an F100 4x4 when I bought my '85 Chevy K10 and couldn't pass it up. It turn out the guy with the Ford only bought it because he couldn't find a K10 when he was searching. It's destiny! My '85 K10...... ....other guy's '78 F100..... Both have new tires and from the pics the F100 seems clean. The advantage, for me, is that I've had a ton of Fords and know 'em well, the F100 is a 4spd vs. the auto in the K10, the F100 is older so it's less "complicated". The only disadvantage is that the F100 has a straight six vs. the 305 in the K10. 305s are historically weak but mine is a strong one. The 300 straight six is a killer motor known to run forever but it's really not my thing. I know the bell housings match up so a swap to a 289/302/351w is no big deal down the road so it's really a no-brainer. I just gotta find the time to make the trek to PA for an inspection. I'm never happy unless I have some sort of vehicle shenanigans going on.
