Somebody mentioned that he actually wanted some cash for his work on the show and had a manager that demanded a little financial reciprocation. Howard and Gary, of course, nixed that idea...therefore, no Hillbilly Jack.

That's the problem with getting Wackpackers through a contest instead of finding them through "natural causes".

Graveyard Greg had potential too...he also probably mentioned wanting a marble and was unceremoniously dismissed.

It's next to impossible to find a wackpacker these days other than a contest. Most people who would qualify as "wackpackers" probably can't afford Sirius. And even if they could afford it, why would they sit and be ridiculed by some guy who isn't willing to give them a little cash for their troubles.

Back in the day when the show was on fm radio, wack packers became famous organically by stumbling across the show on the dial and calling in.

Because of the $$ the only way to get decent wackpackers nowadays is through contests and they end up attracting "professional" wackpakcers like hillbilly jack who had a website before he ever showed up on the show. These wackpackers look to get paid and then it's bye bye

As far as i'm concerned the last great wackpacker was Bigfoot and he seems criminally underutilized

All this I agree with. I didn't like Hillbilly Jack during that contest anyway. From what I remember, ironically, Bigfoot was his biggest supporter. The video is online *somewhere*.

 please...how many times are we going to re-visit this subject??
I think by now you know this dude was all about merchandising his name & using the show to promote himself!
He has a website full of Hillbilly Jack merchandise....something Howard doesn't tolerate....
Probably wanted to get PAID for every appearance /call/ using his laugh etc...
....it's why this guy disappeared....he did have a great laugh but we have Robin and that fatso Jason Kaplan don't we :rolleye:
we don't need another obnoxious laughing hyena do we??

    thank you
    peace & love
