That was one hell of a long day.
Not answering any more calls today.
Thanks Mother Nature
Chriza with a job.
Why did I click?
Oh yeah, loser.
Today's receipts only...what did you bill?
EC thinks she can leave pipes frozen for 24 hours.
LOL. I sure wouldn't. They'll be fine...until it thaws!
I was always taught to leave a trickle of cold water running if the heat is out in the house during a freeze.
you could leave them frozen for years if you wanted to
just dont unfreeze them
I thought this was a Squatty Potty spin off thread.
If they're not split, she's extremely lucky. She should leave the faucet that's the frozen pipes are supplying open to help them thaw, leave cabinet doors open in the vicinity of the frozen pipes and crank her heat up in the house.
Also want to know where the main water valve is and how to shut it off. DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE UNOCCUPIED WITH THE MAIN VALVE TURNED ON UNTIL THE PIPES ARE THAWED.
Nobody would believe it. The last 2 hours was $460.
The thing that makes people like EC think they'll be fine is that they've never has pipes actually break before. Freeze a few times, yeah, but they always thawed out no problem. This time is so bad because of how strong the wind was in conjunction with the temperatures. That wind really causes the cold air to penetrate the structure.
i would assume most of your repairs are in the garage or exposed pipes
anything inside is not going to freeze
good point with the wind
Some idiot ran pipes through the attic to supply an addition. People owned the house for 17 years and never had a break. Couldn't believe it. insulation between the pipes and house with the pipes just run across the tops of the beams. The cops called me out on that one because she freaked and called them.
when copper piping freezes it expands the pipes and splits them.when the defrost whamo
last job took 2 hours because the heat pipe ran above a sliding glass door that leaked air around it pretty bad. had to relocate about 15' of the heat loop away from the door so it's in a warmer section of the ceiling to prevent it from freezing up again tonight. I just abandoned the old pipe in the wall. Killed me to leave all that nice scrap copper behind.
good for you bub
when it warms up and shit starts to thaw in the next couple of days I'll get slammed again with calls. other plumbers were telling their customers to call me and I was turning them away too. you can only do so much.
