The current top of the line TIVO stores 450 hours of programming. What sane person would need to store 3600 hours of programming. This is something that would only appeal to someone like Gary or Howard. They haven't price it yet but I would say it's going to cost several thousand dollars.

    I love my TiVo.

I wish I had the disposable income to afford this fucking monster.

I miss my Tivo that was built in to directv...I think they brought it back recently but decided to go with the genie instead.

Does Tivo let you use external storage? They are just putting a NAS in a box, and you can build a 24TB NAS for a heck of a lot less than 5k.

I am pretty sure you can add external storage. I might be wrong but I think only via SATA but not 100% sure. Been a while since I pulled my tivos out and looked at the back.

In the history of television, have they made 3600 hours of content worth saving?

My wife is the same way and it drives me nuts. She still has fireworks shows from July 4th on the main DVR. Which drives me nuts because we have DirecTV whole home service with four DVR's and every show recorded on any of them shows up on all of the tvs. Its such a cluttered mess.

I kid you not, we still have every episode of the last season of 24 on there. Not the 24 from a few months ago..the 24 from the final season in 2010.

Interestingly though, I watched some of those 2010 episodes and there was the strangest commercial that started out "What is iPad?" Hard to believe the iPad is only 4 years old.

I'm fine with my new Directv Genie. It can record 5 things in HD at once. Which with the bullshit network one minute overruns gets put to the test once in while.

I don't have a TiVo. I use various programs to capture classic & current TV series & movies I'm into & save them on various external hard drives accessible via a PlayOn app that I access through my Roku device.

Also access various classic Old Time Radio shows like "Dragnet" and "Yours Truly Johnny Dollar" with Bob Bailey and the classic K-Rock and early Sirius years of the Howard Stern shows as well as Howard's WOR, E!, and Choice H-TV shows.

Thousands of hours of entertainment are accessible to me this way.

Do I watch all of this?
Do you think I'm that shit-house crazy?

I've tried others (Cox and Verizon) and TiVo still kicks their asses.

I'm saving to get a Roamio to put on another TV.
