Run a wire. Forget the wall gizmos. But I've learned, ever since I got 350meg service, that even the quality of the wire can matter. There's Cat5, 5e, 6, and 7. Get the 7 and spend a little extra. I had a Cat5 running about 50ft and could only get 30meg down out of it. Replaced it with Cat 7 and now it's over 300m. And even network switches slow down INET speed. GL

It wasn't the category of cable that was keeping your speed down. You had either a bad cable or terminations or both. But you are right about skipping the gizmos.

I have the Zyxel 5256 powerline adapters. Just changed from TP-Link.... I get 100% of the speed at the adapters that I do at my cable modem/computer connection (88-89 Mbps).

The effectiveness depends on the electrical circuit. My house is relatively new, so there was no issue with any of the connections (3) that I use.

I replaced the 5-e cables that came with the powerline adapters with Cat 7 cables.

Those things are a last resort. In my experience, wifi is more reliable.

For streaming TV shows, I prefer the hard wiring. No issues Netflix or Amazon. The picture quality is excellent.
