I just called our insurance agent (State Farm) to see about raising our liability amount on our homeowners insurance. Since we have the farm animals, the house is log and we live in the country (sorta) more and more people have been deciding to visit and infringe on my right to be a secluded hermit. I figure it's just a matter of time before some misfortune befalls a drunken friend's mongoloid child while on our property and lawyers will be circling. We were probably underinsured at $300k liability and I was SHOCKED to find that it is only $50/year to crank it to a million. That's a no brainer IMO. I thought I'd share the news in case anyone else has been considering something similar.
