I hate house guests. We are in the middle of a 10 day stretch of house guests, my wife's cousin first, then one of her friends. I never stay at people's homes, I much prefer hotels but if I did I'd like to think I wouldn't act like an entitled cunt. Considering that we are saving them over a thousand bucks in hotel costs, maybe kicking in a few bags of groceries or paying for a dinner out would be nice or maybe not riling up the two year old right before his bedtime or even respecting that we can't put everything on hold to entertain them with mindless small talk.

    10 days!? :omg:
You are a saint, as is your wife. What the hell?!

And, I COMPLETELY agree with you. The few times I've stayed with people, you bet your ass I paid for dinner every night, as it was the very least I could do. Believe me, it's not lost on me that I saved a ton of money by not having to pay for a hotel. I always bring a gift for my host(s), as well. Some people have clearly never been taught proper etiquette.

    Ten days? Ouch!

Earlier this year, we had house guests stay with us for a week. Mrs Coktoaston was quite busy with work, so I took a few days to shepherd them around town.

When their visit came to an end, and they were off to the airport, I broke out the whisky :cooljump:

Seemed like that week would never end!

There have been very times I've had to stay with anyone and never for more than a night or two.

You got to be SUPER respectful of the house dynamic or people hate you. I'd pull myself into a back corner, not move, not make a sound, and just chill.

A really good, childhood friend stayed with us for a little over a week years ago and that was about all I could handle. She was polite and didn't cause any issue, but I was still ready for her to leave. Being hospitable is *very* important to me, but I've only got a few day's fuel in the tank.

Yeah, I think a long weekend (or just a weekend!) is about the limit. I've had friends and family stay with me, and that's about all I can handle, too.

House guests? And for a week? I'll pay for the hotel.
I can barely tolerate my own family on some days.

I offered to pay for a hotel for my wife's friend and her kid, we have a decent hotel three blocks way that gives me great deals since my business maintains the grounds, but she wanted to "hang with her old friend" 24/7.

I hate people. My roommate's loser brother has been camped out on our couch for the last 2 weeks and will remain there until he goes to jail later this month. I have spent an exorbitant amount of money on hotel rooms thanks to the little shit. I like my space......luckily I used to work for a hotel so I get a DEEP discount. It's still pricey, and she has agreed (in writing) to pay me back.....which I have my doubts about. The whole ordeal is quite irritating.

I hate houseguests. I'm kind of a curmudgeon. :giggle:

And in turn, I'd stay at a hotel over unconvincing someone else in their town

Ok, wait....you have a female roommate? o_O How's that goin' for ya?
