It generally means it broke up at altitude and rained down debris over a large area.

I understand that, I just would have thought they'd have more advanced real-time tracking data that they could use to show last known coordinates, air-speed, any changes in course, etc. before whatever happened, happened.

Then why are the pieces not visible in the ocean?

I agree. Why even need a flight data recorder? That data should be streamed in real time to a server. We have trucks in this country that a trucking company can find in a heartbeat. I can't understand how no one knows the last coordinates of that plane. It's ridiculous.

They do have that information. Radar showed the plane turn back then contact was lost. Using those coordinates you still need to know if the plane was mostly intact as it fell or you could be looking tens of miles away from it's final position.

They have found some pieces and an oil slick.

yeah they'll find it. they just need more time. Odd thing about the crash is that the pilots would have some contact with ground control seems like even a "Ahhhh!!! Shit!!!" would have been someones last words transmitted. And if the plane somehow had a big explosion where there wasn't enough time to relay a couple of words. then they would have found some floating debris. Maybe the pilots somehow died and the plane took a perfect Olympic-style nosedive into the Ocean where no debris was left. doubtful though.

I'm watching the news and surfing the Web and i haven't seen an article that confirms either the slick or debris being a positive match. can you post a link? thanks!

No need to look too far, it's all on Drudge. It still needs to be confirmed, but it appears to be an aircraft tail in the general area of the search, so it's most likely from the plane.

This plane should have been found by now. I betcha this is the same "plane" that bombed the Pentagon on 9/11 and flew Dick Clark to Times Square for New Years Eve :ohnoes:

I agree with you. I would also think that satellites record everything these days, too.

I hope it was terrorism....Hate to think that a perfectly good plane could experience a malfunction to cause it to blow up and desinegrate at 35000 feet....Not good for Boeing and the airline industry

    Because technology is not infallible.

Unless. Of course. You think everything is a conspiracy. Then. Well. The government is flexing muscle or some boring shit.
