Did these people not have their own insurance??... Is there not enough wealth & status living in this area to help take care of their own??.... Why in the hell are they asking the rest of the recession torn country to foot the bill for them?? ...What a bunch of arrogant assholes !! ...And they wonder why most of America hates East Coasters...

To be fair there are a lot of insurance policies that wont cover the damage some people received. A town by Chicago, wealthy town called naperville had a shit load of rain come down one day and a lot of flooding. None of these rich people's insurance policies covered flooding.

My friend bought a house at the shore a little over a month before Sandy. It was literally was washed away in the storm. Insurance doesn't want to cover it and to make matters worse the city may condemn the entire street which would mean he basically had 1 million dollars get tossed into the sea.

I think he more than deserves some relief.

I heard of a home owner having their claims denied because the insurance company said it was not a HURRICANE, it was a SUPER STORM. Claim denied. Can you believe that shit!?? Typical.

Most of the people who lost their houses were not elite. They were salt-of-the-earth working class stiffs by the way.

All kinds of weird limits...if wind was over 78 MPH it's an act of god...blah blah.....People had flood insurance on the house, means nothing if the property inside wasn't also insured.....If you have flood insurance, you get no FEMA aid...crazy....I've seen so many people get fucked it's insane

If you buy a house next to the ocean, it's only a matter of time before a big wave swamps it. Go buy another one or fuck off.

I didn't feel sorry for people that chose to live below sea level when they got flooded either.

No one should live in the Midwest. If their house gets destroyed by a tornado then they deserve it.

I don't have a problem with private donations helping people out, but I also have little sympathy for people who do not act responsibly.

If you live on the shore, or near a river or lake, you need flood insurance...it's subsidized by the federal gov't fer crissakes and is cheap

Content insurance, riders to protect special assets, it is all out there....buy it or lose it
