How long can you actually stand to stay at you parents house?

    I'm not saying it's a house of horrors or anything, but after some time, you remember why you have your own place and can't wait to get back to it! What is your trigger? For me, it is the conversation starter about the person/family you have no recollection of who did something you have no connection to that means nothing to you.

    If I could I'd never leave. I'm an old fucked up Marine and I still feel safer when my 80 year old all fucked up mom is around! I can't explain it. And I'm not the luvy duvy type!

    I hang at my parents house all the time. Stopped over after work and had a beer with them. My trigger? My oldest sister. I love her, but can only tolerate her for five hours max.

    That's why we drink martinis around the fire. It keeps the peace. I'm out as soon as we run out of booze.

    Both my parents are dead, neither was a saint, but I could stay at their place day and night. Their home was the family center, I miss it with every fiber of my being

    My dads, a week, even longer. My moms? No....a meal out will do! That said I'm in a country with no thanksgiving! I'd love to be with either of them today. It's going to suck. Schnitzel for dinner.

    Last time there, i had to deal with the local internet and phone provider who was billing for the router that had died since the last time I was home. Jerkoff tech support treated me like I was was some intruder in my parent's home. Most exasperating hour of my life.

    Bless my mom's heart. She is home alone since dad left. She has all but raised her grandkids and has no clue, nor does she want to know, how the Internet, email, or Facebook works. Yet she wants to keep the router working in the house.

    When my mother and stepfather still lived in their large, gorgeous home on the lake where we had a whole floor to ourselves and total privacy, forever. Now that they've downsized, 4 or 5 hrs. :)

    I love my parents but it's the little things that drive you nuts. I recently moved home to CT after a decade in DC. Bought a house but had to stay with my parents for a month while everything was worked out. They'd be annoyed at where I left my shoes or if I was too loud at night. It wasn't the end of the world, but I think we were all happy when I moved into my place.

    Wouldn't work. Mom was to stay at my house for five days, to take care of my dogs, while I recuperated from surgery.
    She lasted three days.

    I like going to my parent's house. I also enjoy when they come to my place. Same goes for in-laws.
