With today the 200th anniversary of Francis Scott Key writing the verses of the Star Spangled banner, and knowing a little of the history around it, I have to wonder.

Will the attention thrown on this due to the anniversary result in it coming out that Key was

    A) a slaveholder in the 1800's, after slavery was largely abandoned or abolished in the north

    B) strongly PRO slavery, even going so far as to use his powers as a DA to prosecute an abolitionist doctor who happened to have anti-slavery pamphlets stored at his home?

In his defense, Maryland did continue slavery up to and including the civil war.

I'm going to go ahead and predict this results in at least a lot of controversy and perhaps even dropping of the song as the national anthem, with the likely replacement being "Gin and Juice".

It will be replaced by the Muslim call to prayer or La Cucaracha.
