I wanted to, but still can't afford a 40k car. Yes, it's cheaper, but it's still not cheap.

For delivery late 2017? No thanks - plus its a new model you want them to get the kinks out before you buy.

Its actually a bit of a misnomer, probably by design.

They should more accurately be called coal or nuclear (waste) energy cars since 90% of our electricity comes from these 2 sources.

I wonder how they'd take it if I drove to work in an electric car?

...we'd be better off if we converted our gasoline cars to run on natural gas. every gasoline car is able to be converted.

Would like to hear from a car guy...why? I have no personal experience with the cars, but the batteries are, I believe, li-ion? In cold temps my li-ion power tools don't last long, which coming from a colder place would not be much good if I constantly had battery anxiety since it was 5 deg F outside.

Really, I understand the effort to produce electric cars. but understand this.
The electric running the car still comes from fossil fuels, in most all cases. Batteries are expensive, heavy, and contain a lot of hazardous metals, and take a long time to charge- hours.
Facts: According to the Tesla site @ 240V (which is not available to you at home, or mostly while traveling) you get 58 miles of driving range per charging hour- that's 5+ hours charge time per 300 miles of travel range. @120V, normal home garage outlet voltage, it's ~twice that long.
That's a long lunch. Hope you're not in a hurry.
Gassing up for 300+ miles, 10-15 gals, takes under 5 minutes. we have some work to do.
