Did they know she had Stage IV endometrial cancer?

Did they know that the 5 year survival rate is less than 20%?

Is this just a grab for marbles from the publisher along with Don Buckwald?

They probably didn't know until it was too late or they had paid her, and had thousands of books laying around. Now they are hoping just to unload some - or maybe she would have to pay back some of her advance.

The Gunt is dis likable as they come, but damn. I'm with the above poster about not wishing her to die so soon.

I want her around for at least another 20 years to kick around.

From the National Cancer Data Base. Based upon the fact that she needed an ileostomy my guess is that it's Stage IVA. This data is based upon diagnoses made between 2000 and 2002, so it's likely that it's higher now, but updated data from the UK in 2012 still place Stage IV only at 25%.

Whenever you have large tumors that have spread there's rarely a good ending. What makes it worse is her attitude that she doesn't need to return for tests or blood work, despite the fact that the cancer had spread. This tells me either that she's deluding herself, or that she knows she's going to be in the 75%+ that don't make it 5 years.

Looks like the doctor who spoke about prolonging her life was more accurate than the one who supposedly said she was cured.

I don't wish Robin to die, but I do wish Howard would lose all his money, b/c then he would see that Beth is just with him for that. Yes, I'm a harrible person.

I'd wager that Robin contractually had to inform the publisher about any factors that might affect her ability to deliver/promote the book. I doubt that Robin received a very large advance. There was no reason for the publisher to believe that it would sell exceptionally well. Hell, it's pretty much just a stupid cookbook. Let's be clear...writing the book wasn't originally about Robin having a best-seller. It was merely to create a product that she could take around to various TV shows on a press-junket. That's what she was doing before her health took a turn for the worse...substitute hosting on Joy Behar's show, etc. She knows that her days on THSS are going to be ending, and--like Howard and AGT--she's been looking for a way to parlay her minor celebrity into a new gig. Hell, she might even have a contract that requires her to purchase excess inventory of the book...thus inflating sales numbers and covering a portion of the publishers lost revenue if the book under-performs.

    Did she really have cancer?

This bunch lie so much I call bullshit on most of what they put out. Everything has the potential to be a bit.

Or maybe since Howig "phones in" his show maybe she thought, "why shouldn't I".

    what marbles?!?

    :uscratch:

    all this

    What do you mean "if"?!?

Has there every been anything in the history of anythings that has been more pre-destined to fail than this book?!?

    :uscratch:

I agree with all your points, though, ZZ; she was clearly trying to angle herself into a new persona, and ultimately a new gig, but that was just a pipe-dream, even if she was 100% healthy and thin.

    #thoroughlyunlikable

And now it's time for her to cut losses and circle the wagons, and make peace with whatever needs making peace with.

Actually I'm pulling for Jackie puppet to be one of the pallbearers. Who am I kidding, I want him to be the ONLY pallbearer.
