$52/month for 35 mbps plus basic cable....I have never plugged the cable in though, Comcast is weird and it made my bill cheaper if I added it

I think your price and speed (22) is a good balance.

AAAArrrrgggghhh...I was trying to put the cable bill out of my mind but now I had to go look, and I STILL don't know how much I'm paying for internet.

It's a bundle and they don't breakdown each service. Internet, TV and voice for $138 and I had to go rounds with them to get it that 'low'. Damn Comcast. It is a good connection though and I usually get pretty close to the 30 mbps rated speed.

Wish I had access to FIOS or Google internet.

Pay around $50 (part of a bundle) for neck-breaking speed. Not sure why the test server was in Boston though.

Second test to show the first result wasn't a fluke (and this time, the host server was in NYC).

Yeah, pretty awesome. And that's the speed I'm getting from my cable modem via either WiFi or hardwired. I just checked my hardwired iMac and got 119.50 Mbps/11.62.

About the same for me, but with the rented modem, it drives it up to over $60.

I still voted for $51-$60, though, 'cause that's the price for the internet.

Do most of you guys rent modems or own them?

I used to own it, but it broke, so I had to use the rented one since the Comcast guy was here with it. Sucks that the old one broke, because renting it costs a lot more money in the long run. Problem is, if you own it and it breaks, and you're not sure that's what the problem is...you'll have to pay if the Comcast guy comes out to fix it and that's the problem. I think, anyway.

I thought about it and decided to rent. If I move or it breaks or technology changes, it's their problem. Just like insurance, you never really know you need it until you need it.

    For cable modems:
Docsis 3.0 Modems can be purchased for $50-$70 @amazon $63
Docsis 2.0 Modems can be purchased for $30-$40 @amazon $36-$40

Unless you need something super fancy for home use (they run $80-$120)

    NO reason to rent!

If you are concerned about "breaking it" get a 3 year extended warranty for $4-$10 from http://www.squaretrade.com/
Sign up for emails and they will regularly send you 30%-40% off coupons

Hmmm, that's cheaper than last time I looked into it. Might have to reconsider...

TWC - $55 for 15 down, 1 up...but it usually runs at 10-12 down, 1 up. After this thread, I'm pissed and jealous.
