I don't really give a fuck, I use the eyeball technique and olfactory evidence. If it doesn't look like roast beef gone bad, or smell like a seafood dumpster, I will eat it. :c

I usually check for mold on bread, but i do look for the expiration on milk.

yep..i'll eat just about any mustgo.....and will fight the dog for it if i gotta....

expiration dates are for suckers.....ive seen companys wipe old dates off....print new dates...most have a special line just for that...

you have to use your eyes and nose for spoiled food...

now as far as serving food to family or friends....no question ...i would only serve the best to them

    Usually a week, if sealed.

One day this week, while eating lunch at work, I realized the yogurt I had just eaten had expired 01/02/2012. Bleech.

Most "expiration dates" are actually "best by" dates, meaning it's still all good, within reason.

Depends what it is....I pay attention to it, but common sense trumps all. I wont eat something that is rotten, if it seems fine, I will.

I typically dont monkey around with meat or dairy.

Yeah, I don't abide by expiration dates within a reasonable window of time. They are just suggestions, not scientifically based.

Bread should be checked for mold, and if milk has a slightly strong smell and its past the expiration date, best to throw it out.

I've learned a lot about the shelf life of things from working in restaurants.

Those suggestions will always err on the side of caution as well...so its usually safe for a few days after.

I am pretty strict with it, your nose might not notice it's gone bad but your stomach will.

How far past an expiration date is it still okay to take medication or vitamins?
