Every single song that he plays on the show that he says is so wonderful and beautiful sucks.
Yeah. No. What do you do for a living?
Give Rodney a chance.
The man is a senior citizen, seniors are not usually up to date on the latest music from the last few decades.
Howard is the typical old curmudgeon who says music sucks today...but doesn't listen to any new music to base his judgement.
"They'll be bigger than TOOL, Robin." **
Wrecking ball?!?!?! By the Dixie Chicks?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
A very average song that isn't made one bit better. Fucking sucks.
Actual quote from 2004:
"I was listening to the new Avril Lavigne album..it's not as good as Alanis Morisette, but it's pretty damned good."
This topic has been discussed ad nauseum, but I'll post my standard response: the guy stagnated in 1995 in as far as new music taste. He has an annoying penchant for acoustic "coffee house" cover songs and overplaying The Beatles/Led Zeppelin. What's really annoying is when he's ripping on Gary for loving music and putting so much time and energy into consuming it, when it's so obvious that Howard does as well. Or the time he said he received a signed Led Zep concert DVD and placed it in the trash can soon after receiving it. He's being disingenuous when he says he doesn't care about music just to get a rise out of Gary in those arguments. Another pet peeve of mine is when a NIN song is being played, Howard always has to say "What happened to these guys?" when Trent/NIN has released a ton of material (plus side projects/soundtracks) since Howard's precious "Closer" and "Hurt" one/two combo (see Howard stuck in the mid-90's). Thank you.
Like when he claimed to sit in his room and cry to that Lou Reed / Metalica song for hours.
