Lemme listen again.....I turned it on this morning and that was the first thing I heard.....about halfway into the first hours...I think...
I think he considers Washington D.C. as "the south".
I think he considers Philadelphia "the south".
Yep when he hot his Class A license he lived down South and witnessed the plight of faygs and blacks.
He's from the south side of chicago. Just here on vacation
'Ya know Ruff, when you start these veiled threads, most here, including me don't listen so we don't know what you're talking about
Yes, Ruff, we could use a concise explanation please.
I've lived on the west coast, in the midwest, and in the south. And anyone who doesn't believe that there's not just as much racism/bigotry on the east coast as anywhere else is either a moron or a goddamn liar.
I've lived in the northeast my whole life and never saw anywhere near as much bigotry as I do from posters in these forums. (It probably also depends on which region of NY Bumfuck is in.)
" I lived in a neighborhood where I was brutally discriminated against."
-Howard Allen Stern
I'm from DC and I think he means DC, too, but DC is really not the South, although technically it is below the Mason-Dixon line.
Probably? The region is either as bigoted/racist or it isn't. And if you've only ever lived here, then you have no point of reference to my original point.
That being said, Bumfuck is right on the NJ/Pa border. I don't actually live in a town/city. I'm in the sticks. (I can almost hit the Delaware River with a rock.) I've been here 13 years.
But I work/have worked in NY from NYC to Rockland, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster counties. And as far north of here as North Adams, Mass., and New Hampshire.
There's even major bigotry in a Hasidic enclave in Monroe with 2 different factions that follow two different rabbis (who happen to be brothers[/I)], have resulted in knockdown drag out fights. And have personally heard the other Jewish people (Orthodox, etc.) talk shit about them! And I've hear native NYer's all the time bitch about the Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Russians, Poles, etc..
But they sure do love to talk about the south being such racists, like they were the only ones who owned slaves.
They also continue to push the fallacy (as do the schools) that the Civil War was about slavery, when nothing could be further from the truth.
But these forums are a whole 'nother matter, because there's no one locale you can really pin it on. But there's a line (albeit a thin one) between racial humor, and out and out racism.
I'm trying to read but nothing's happening....
Don't think it is particularly wise to compare behavior you experience in real life with that of people posting anonymously on a message board.
Of course. But Spazz was saying the east is just as bigoted as the rest of the country. That's primarily what I was addressing. I've certainly been to other parts of the country for periods of time (weeks/months) but can't claim to have lived there. The east (even in the southeast) hasn't seemed very racist to me.
