First, he steals the "vote sanjaya" bit from o&a, then he steals this one from cirque du soleil... This is from their corteo show.

Nonetheless, the mental image of that being Eric "Ack Ack-ing" and "Don't grab my club fucking foot-ing" his way around an arena (Instead of making French noises) is hilarious.

Stern was the last DJ on the "vote sanjaya" campaign but took all the credit.

Of course he is a bit stealer.

He took his whole personna in the beginning from Steve Dahl. Dahl did all the bits 18 months or so before howie.

I am not basing this on anecdote, but rather personal listening experience, as I worked in Chicago and Detroit in those years and Dahl was on fire

and a very different listening experience than what was radio at that time. I also heard howie in detroit, and he plainly sucked.

In 1979, Dahl drew almost 20% of the attendance of Woodstock (about 100,000) to a baseball game at Comiskey Park, one of the first instances

of a "flash mob" that I can remember. Young listeners at that time could not get enough of Dahl. He got in trouble with the FCC when howie was

    selling radio advertisments.

That would also explain howies unrational hatred of a fellow groundbreaker and peer.

Hey, you're talking about a guy who stole the chicken doing football picks bit from Bob & Tom, then accused Jay Leno of stealing it from him:

    (scroll down a little bit)
