Howard was ranting this morning about Jay Leno, and why he doesn't stand up for NBC. He also wondered why Leno doesn't move his show to Fox or ABC. And he wondered why Letterman isn't also taking a pay cut. Well, Howard, if you don't know, Letterman owns his show. NBC owns Leno's show. It's too completely different situations. And moving Leno's show to ABC? Well, they didn't want him 2 years ago when the Conan thing happened. And they don't want him now when they have a younger-skewing Jimmy Kimmel, who fits in more closely with ABC's female-oriented programming while attracting male eyeballs. Fox? Well, Fox affiliates aren't going to dump lucrative Seinfeld reruns for an aging Leno. And that's the point. Leno is 62. He's not going to start over. Why can't Howard realize this? Starting over at a new place is really, really, really hard, as Conan will tell you. The quality suffers. And nothing is ever the same.
