............We don't know how many Sirius subscribers tune into Stern. But we know he had an estimated 12 million listeners on terrestrial radio. And we also know that Sirius XM experiences its annual renewal peak in January of each year – not coincidentally, the month Stern started broadcasting over satellite in 2006. What's more important is that we know the content he generates is important to Sirius.

Now 60, Stern and his radio show have evolved from its shock-jock past. Sure, there are still porn-star appearances and outrageous contests. But in an age of over-the-top media, the interview has become the show's true cornerstone. That's likely to attract a different kind of listener, say one who sees Stern on "America's Got Talent," or who reads about the Billy Joel interview.................

Comments are great - it's nice to see that the site isn't following Howard's lead and closing or censoring comments.

The author has absolutely no support for his claim that Howard is valuable to Sirius/XM - he acknowledges that there's no measure of Stern's listener base and he just speculates that renewals in January are due to Howard's start date in 2006.

I canceled years ago. I'll say that he did bring a lot of traffic to Sirius in the beginning

Absolutely...I went out and bought that shit in home receiver where I had to run a cord through my hallway b/c I had to have the satellite thing on the south side of my house, and I bought that frickin' Stiletto just to listen to him. And that was fine, b/c the shows with Artie and all that were hysterical.

Now my Stiletto is in a landfill somewhere, and I listen to podcasts.. Good job Howard. Your "evolving" really paid off.:rolleye:

This. I think at one time we paid full price for 4 subscriptions and had all the equipment, stiletto, extra batteries, etc.

Now we are down to the 6 months for $25.00 and don't even have the Stern channels in the truck.

Sirius is such a screwed up company, Howard will probably be able to con them out of 1 more contract.

Of course he did. I would have followed him through the gates of hell. However when he decided to create the radio version of little house on the praire because the whore he married wanted to go to Hamptons parties his fans filed out in droves!

We have a battle ahead of us. Buchwald is preparing a full court press of a prank for that next robbery.

    PW:

Just saw this over on SFN.

"Look Jerkoof. Stop trying to turn Howard into some evolved genius who took stock of his life and has traded going to Scores for going to the Opera. He is a phony star fucker whose wife drags him around by his dick and makes him look like a fool to the very people that have supporting him for over 30 years."

    Sheer poetry.

I was practically MFB...(without that voice, that face, and the tacky LI home decor). People would get in my SUV and Howard would be on, and they would say "YOU listen to Howard Stern??" And I would defend him that is was so funny, so irreverent...blah blah blah.

Now, I think he is just an ass, and deserves being saddled with that money grubbing fame whore...IMHO
