Here's a comment I found off the page. Probably one of the interns:

    Mike Scranton · Colrain, Massachusetts

Anyone who has listened to his show knows the real Howard, a man who cares about people. The ones who don't are the ones who bad mouth him.

Stern says that he has a knack for guiding people without talent in the right direction. Stern added:

“I’ve taken more no-talents and made them talents.

Apart from the staff, who are paid to take the hits, I don't recall Howard being particularly mean to anyone who turned up in the studio. I remember him getting pissed at a couple of game contestants over the years when he thought they were trying to scam the show, but nothing much other than that.

Boy you have a short memory ...How bout when he had Larry King on ? he had Fred constantly goof on Larry and kept playing sound effects of a death bed respirator..

Or how about the telephone call he had with M NightShyamalan, a supposed friend on the show, after the movie "signs" came out...Howard was so pissed they couldn't get Mel Gibson as a guest, Howard had Artie and Fred constantly goof on M Night and his ethnicity during the entire conversation...

...or when he Conan O'brien as a guest and refused to shake Conan's hand after the show...

...the list goes on and on....

He is right to a certain reguard,

Robin, and Gary are both extrememly rich, and famous enough for Letterman invites. Without Howard this would have never happened.

He's also able to make people like JD, who would be completely boring otherwise, entertaining.

This is one area where i agree with howard

Robin and Gary get Letterman invites as a favor to Howard. What are their talents that Howard developed?
    what is JD's talent.

Just laughing at everything Howard says is not a talent. Everything she tried on her own failed.
Waiting for someone to call and be a guest is not a talent. Throwing your mother under the bus to make a buck on a book is not a talent.
Being a loser for Howard to make fun of is not a talent.

Then I guess Mark Harris and Beth are "stars". Being know in the Stern " universe" is not really a talent, is it??

How about when he decided to sue Mel Karmazin, the man who stood by him his entire career. The man who brought him to Sirius & made him a super millionaire.

the truth of the matter is that he made no-talents famous...the funny thing is that any celebrity can do that...not much to brag about...

You need to listen to any show prior to 2001-ish. Particularly one where he's dunking a chick's head down a toilet or throwing bologna on her mayonnaise ass. Sandy Von Buttcorn? The fat-asses who accompanied Richard Simmons on the first season of the Channel 9 show? There's a whole history pre-Sirius.

ahaha the Conan interview with the Jackie puppet is really the best example. You can tell Howard thought the dude was already kicked out of show business and was just shitting on him cause he was nothing.

I even recall Billy in his spotlight saying before the segment Stern pulled him aside and went, "Okay ya know that Conan guy? All right I want you to fuck with him, even though I'm gonna tell you to stop, keep fucking with him."

Also, all the 80s Richard Simmons shit is pretty deplorable in retrospect, particularly when viewing Howard's change in how he treats the gays--not to mention that at this point you could craft a more convincing thesis for Howard being a Queen than Richard.
