"What kind of example does it set for the kids?"

"I can't believe you don't care enough to vote!"

"But you can make a difference"
Adam Carolla "Uh, no, I can't"

Personally, I gave up voting b/c I think 95% of politicians are corrupt.

I dont vote, I think the southpark spoof episode from a few years back sums up why I dont "when your choice is between a douche and a turd sandwich what is the point of voting?" as stupid as that is its true.

    Several things about voting:

Fact is in most states, your vote doesn't count except at the local level. Other than a handful of states, the Dems or Reps win by a landslide at the state or national level in most elections. There are a few exceptions, but that is the case in most states.

Second, I don't believe you should vote no matter what. I think an uninformed voter is worse than someone who sits out the election process all together. Say Aldoph Hitler was running for Senate in your state and the only thing you knew about him was that he was your party's nominee. You would probably vote for Hitler. It would have been better that you didn't vote at all rather than vote for one candidate over another because he either had a D or R next to his name.

Carolla called Howard a "fucking hero" for voting (or something like that)... was funny.

I agree with you. Politicians are corrupt and only help out the lobbyist and people with deep pockets.

HA! Funny enough, I was just reading an update from Adam that he was on the show. For a moment I thought about listening to it to hear him, then I decided to just listen to him on Artie's show.

I've voted in just about everything I could since I turned 18. Run-offs? Done it. Times when a little amendment is the only thing to vote on? Done it. Presidential elections and mid-terms are not even a question. I have not missed a single one of those.

All that said, I despise voting. The only reason I vote is so people can't make that STUPID argument of, "if you don't vote, you can't complain." What kind of logic is that? Of course you can complain, vote or not!

In fact, my thinking is that it makes MORE sense to say if you DO vote, you don't have a right to complain because you participated in a system of majority vote winning the day, therefore, if your guy lost, you have no right to complain because you participated in that system. Those who don't vote didn't participate in that system but suffer under the system nonetheless. They have a far greater right to complain than anyone if you accept the vapid logic behind "if you don't vote, you can't complain."

If I could change one thing, ONE THING, about the voting process, I would make it a choice to vote "present" on the top of the ballot to show that you took the time to vote but are doing so in protest. We have touch screen machines in GA which make write-ins very easy. I type in "none of the above; N/A" and then "N/A" on all subsequent votes that I don't want to vote for either or any of the candidates or asinine state constitutional amendments that are written in a confusing manner purposefully.

Few times have I been proud of my vote and been on the winning side. In fact, I can only recall two times where I was proud of whom I voted for and actually won (I've cast many "protest" votes; most of them have been lost causes from Howard Dean to Ron Paul) and one was for my city councilman and the other was the Georgia Ag commissioner.

Voting makes me angry. For me it's like the Catholic who has lost his faith but still attends mass out of some strange obligation driven into his head as a kid.

Except I don't have to do it every fucking Sunday.
