The caller said he knows that. that's what they miss. Howard said that he only does a certain number of shows a year and that's that. He said that there are less shows but he's doing 4 or 5 hours for those 3 shows a week. The caller said that they pay for this though. He said that they're only getting him for 2 shows a week sometimes. Howard said he gets vacation and he takes that time off. The caller was talking over Howard so he obviously didn't want to hear his answer. Howard hung up on him. Gary said they do 112 live shows a year. Howard said that he's doing a 4-5 hour show and it's not that easy. He said getting up that early is grueling. Howard said that you walk around like a zombie. He said that it's tough. He said he talked to Nick Cannon about it and Nick had to quit his morning show. Howard said to be a morning man you have to give up almost everything. He said you have to win and compete and it becomes your whole life. Howard said there is room for nothing unless you want to be mediocre. He said to be great you have to put everything into the show. He said if you're just doing it as part time work it'll never happen for you. Howard said just doing 3 days a week is a tremendous effort for him. Howard said that they have figured out what the audience wants to hear and that's what they play in the time that he's off. Howard said on one channel they play the shows from the week and on the other channel they play other replays. Howard said if you don't like it then you go on with your life and listen to something else. He said that they assume that most people don't' sit there for 4 hours straight. Howard said if you don't want to hear an interview then change to another channel. Howard said they have music, talk shows, and a lot of other stuff on there. Howard said this caller wouldn't listen to him. He said if that's being a sell out then he's a sell out. Howard said it was very tough doing 5 days a week so he cut back. Howard said America's Got Talent is a whole different kind of thing. He doesn't have to get up at the crack of dawn and it's not his show. He said it's a different thing.
