Howard obviously had sessile polyps on his last screening. With these type of polyps you don't have to go every three years as they are less serious polyps and a screening every 5 years it's sufficient to remove them before they can become a problem. It's also possible that Howard had no polyps on his last screening but elects to be screened every five years as a precaution. Normally it's 10 years but wealthy individuals choose 5 years because they want the extra margin of safety. I have read that some of these hedge fund and CEO guys get screened every year. They are so afraid of a polyp being missed that with having a procedure each year their chances of ever getting colon cancer are probably close to zero. People who have bowel diseases have a colonoscopy done each year. Some are even forced to have one every six months. In those individuals the colon is very susceptible to fast growing, aggressive tumors. What's even more brutal is the more procedures you have done the likelyhood is one of those times you will end up with a perforated colon. Howard will be shitting almonds all afternoon tomorrow.
