Ive heard Howard complain a few times in the last month about his prep for the show and how he has so much work to do before each show?? Its pretty clear to me tha the doesnt do any of the research on his guests, thats Will's job, and its evident when Howard asks a question to a guest and its totally not even close to the truth. How much time do you guys think he takes each day for all 2 shows each week? Id say 10 min , and thats from 650am to 7am to read the headlines in the NYC papers!

It's hard to say. Some of his show prep comes during the show as Gary or Will will pitch him/prepare him for things during breaks. I think he does listen to some audio clips at home (which were probably already whittled down by someone else) and probably writes some questions for the guest interviews based on Will's research. Then he reads the newspaper headlines on the ride over. Maybe 1 hour for each 4 hour show? 2 hours? I can't imagine that he spends much more than that. This is all not counting the viewing hours of watching those shitty shows he discusses on air.

Crazy because he criticized late night TV hosts because they are only on the air for one hour a day. Except they write and prepare and rehearse all day before the show is taped, spending far more time on the preparation than the actual hour of the show.

I haven't listened to the show in over a decade, so all I know about it is what I read on this board. To me it always sounded like he just shows up and Gary or Will prep him a few minutes before airtime. I'm betting he doesn't even know who his guest are until that very morning. It's a far cry from the old days when the gang would all have a meeting after the show to write, record bits and plan for the next days show. You never got the feeling that they even considered that work. They genuinely loved what they were doing back then and that carried over on the air when they talked about it.

If it's an interview that's been a very long time coming, like Bill Murray for example, then I bet he'll look some stuff over a day or two beforehand.

But for the vast majority of guests, at best he skims over some notes based on Will's always impressive research - and then spends the entire interview being corrected by the guest when the underlying premises of all his questions turn out to be completely wrong.

"Well, no Howard, that's not actually why he left the band."

"Well, no Howard, I was never actually offered that role."

"Well, no Howard, that's not actually how that went down."

"Well, no Howard, we never actually fought over how the money was distributed."

"Well, no Howard, that's wasn't actually my first job out of college."

"Well, no Howard, that's not actually the first place I lived in NYC."

"Well, no Howard, I'm actually not a vegan."

"Well, no Howard, I never actually dated her"...

I'm sure Howard dies extensive show prep to figure out just when, exactly, to drop in references to Starbucks, YouPorn and kitten rescue.

It was revealed when one time Gary was recounting Howard yelling at him over the phone for bothering him when he could've been "prepping" for the show.

    He just reads the newspapers.

    howard was lying.

IF by chance he does read the newspaper, it's because he wants to see if he or his idiot wife were mentioned.

There was a telling thing he said once about how his "perfect weekend night" he and Beth open a bottle of beautiful wine and spread out the gossip mags and read them together.

Giggling like pimply tweens. Artie was incredulous.

I don't think he does any. Often he'll intro a bit or a phony phone call with a completely wrong description of what it's about, so clearly he hasn't listened to it in advance. This week when NPH came on to promote his new show, Howard had no idea what it was about.

SB and Dunkin taste test...that had to take seconds of brainstorming.

It feels like Howard wanted to appear to be contributing so he took the first POS idea that popped into his hair helmet and he threw it out there.

Then the yes-men turned it into something for the show.

    C'mon that's killer shit
