It's 2007. You are Howard Stern. Let's assume Artie is doing TV, standup gigs every week, and it's clear he feels underpaid (see the "Gary's paycheck incident"). He agrees to sign a deal that keeps him on the show until the end of your Sirius run, IF you bump his pay to $2 million a year. We are assuming for the sake of this hypothetical that he will actually show up for work, not relapse, and not stab himself with a kitchen knife. You have to give up some of your marbles, but your job is 10x easier, and the show is much stronger / in a better position for future contract negotiations. If you lose Artie, the show gets weaker, your job is harder and you risk losing audience + negotiating positioning with Sirius. What do YOU do?
