In May I developed a detatched retina and had it repaired. One of the side effects of that is developing cataracts which I did. Had the surgery the other day for the first eye. I've been wearing glasses for 50 f'n years and now my right eye is 20/25 vision. I'm driving in my car and say (very loudly) to myself "This is fucking awesome." I'm seeing things I never noticed before, even with glasses. I literally feel I've been living in a different world from normal sighted people my whole life and now I'm free to join them. I also have much more empathy for blind people. That must be the worst hell. To say this is a life changing experience would be an understatement.

If you are considering lasik, or need cataract surgery, run to it now.

Can't wait to get the other eye done in 2 weeks.

I have really bad vision..my left contact lens is -8 and my right is -7.50. But...I'm so nervous to do lasik because there are horror stories out there. ..double vision...dry eye...Starburst effect with lights at night.

I think the comedian Kathy Griffin had a bad result

My vision is pretty good. But I still have to (or should) wear glasses when I drive and to watch tv from across the room if I really want to see what's going on. Still, it's a pain and I look like a nerd. Scared to get procedure though.

I was always the same way. Nothing's 100% and I didn't want a mistake made on my eyesight. Get a doctor who will find a cataract. Same results, easier procedure and insurance pays for it.

Any halos around lights at night?

Want it...too much of a p×××× when it comes to my sight to risk it.

What was your vision before surgery?

I have the stars at night, but I don't care. They corrected me to around 20/10 and I've not worn glasses in like 18 years, and I'm thankful every day for that.

I couldn't deal with the stars. I'm so used to glasses or contact lenses, it doesn't bother me

My dad had the same surgery on one eye 4 years ago, and on the other last August. For the first time in his life, after 65 years, he is able to see perfectly. He actually has better vision than me!

I have a cataract in my left eye, but I have been putting off the surgery.
    Is is painful?
I heard it was fairly quick.

Didn't feel a thing. 20 minute procedure. You can drive home if they let you. I was escorted to the parking lot to make sure I wasn't driving but it was unnecessary.

Cool. I know they stick a tiny needle in your eye and suck out the old cloudy lens and insert a new lens right after. Even better, they are developing eye drops that will clean your lens without needing surgery.
