WTF I got into a scooter crash yesterday

I was riding my little Honda scooter in all its faggy glory around the island, and I slowed down to turn into my neighborhood. Suddenly I hear a loud crash and I get bumped forward. I turn around and I see another guy flying off his big ass dirt bike. He was too close on my ass to brake in time, clipped my tail light and flew off. I'm still sitting om my tiny scooter 100% fine.

Called the ambulance to get the guy picked up. Pretty bad road rash and a bruised knee but he'll be fine.

Cops showed up and shit... Aussie cops are pretty friendly but dealing with cops in general makes me pretty nervous.

I bought some faggy scooters for me and my wife to use on the rural roads by our cottage. We were planning a little ride to another town the next morning, so I rode the 1/2 mile to the gas station to gas them up. First one was uneventful. It was around dusk and coming back I was doing only about 25 when two huge deer ran right in front of me. I barely stopped before hitting the second one. Normally, deer don't look all that big, but on a scooter, they look like a cow. It would have sucked hitting one. Not as bad as getting hit by a car on my 18th birthday, but that was on an 1100cc motorcycle. The seating position on scooters sucks. I really feel vulnerable on them. It's like sitting on a chair. Not exactly a position of ultimate control.

 

Why is a scooter and a fat chick alike ?

Both are fun to ride but you don't want anyone to know.

I started riding in 1978. I had my one and only serious accident last year. A kid driving his moms car made a left turn in front of me. I had nowhere to go so hit his front bumper and went over his car. I didn't even have time to hit my brakes. I broke my L5 vertebrae and shattered my ankle.
The responding trooper said it was 100% the kids fault and gave him a reckless driving ticket. I got to go to the hospital.
Even when you're carful, things can happen.

I'm living on a little island right now... buying a car would be a big waste of money, and I'd only be able to afford a piece of shit anyway. I want to drive through the outback in the end of this year, and I'd rather do that in a safe, reliable rental car than some beater.

Buddy of mine had a small motorcycle and got hit by a car.
Broke his leg in 3 places. Had to get a metal rod put in to support the bone.
When he was laying on the ground waiting for the ambulance, he said all he could remember was the whiteness of the jagged bone sticking out of his upper leg.

 

I'm still recovering. I can walk without a limp now. They may want to do some surgery on my ankle. I don't want to. I'm alive, I can walk, I can live with the pain.

Don't get me wrong... I like cars much better than scooters or motorcycles, but it's just a money issue.

 

a... that's a Honda Elite 125 Circa 84 probably. I had the 150 version minus the popup headlight. Put 30,000KM (that's almost 20,000 Miles) on that fuckerr til I sold it to an Old German dude as I needed cash to run away and join the Carnival as a summer college gig. Sounds nuts but it's true.
