Gimme some leeway here people........I have a legitimate question.

Bringing my car home from the mechanics. No plates. So my buddy is going to tow it home for me, and I'll plate it from there.

Here's my concern........where we're towing it from, is alllllllllllllllll hills. Steep, steep hills. Probably only 3 in total.......but as the car falls behind his truck....if we are not in sync, he'll yank as my car hits the bottom of the hill and his hits the top........and he'll lose his back end or I'll lose the front end of my car.

I'm a little freaked out about this........I've towed many a vehicle.....or at least was in the car being towed.......but the hills and shit are worrying the snot out of me.

If I hit the brakes 'cause I'm coming up too close to him, just as he realizes I'm coming up too close to him and he accelerates - recipe for a lot of damage.

    Any tips would be great.

And don't tell me to get drunk first.........that's already been suggested.

Isn't it still illegal to tow a car that doesn't have plates? Might as well drive, it's no less illegal and would save the vehicle. :thumbup2:

CAA won't tow a car that doesnt have registered plates. not sure what the laws are for Joe Towtrucker, but if a 3rd vehicle follows closely behind them, there shouldn't be a problem..

The car that is being towed needs to use the brakes when needed to keep the tension on the tow strap.

Actually, that's untrue. I could..........but it would put me on more traveled roads, twice the time, twice the cars and corners, with more police presence. I'm not entirely sure if what I said above about towing is correct.

You positive? I mean for sure!? I know here, it's illegal to tow a car period, but without plates, a vehicle isn't allowed on the road, period.

Put a tire between the 2 cars and tether them together.

:slap: Pay attention............that's my concern. New brakes on this car...........but if we're not in sync........if I brake at the bottom of a huge hill to not come up behind him too fast, as he accelerates to get up the next hill........one of us is losing part of our vehicle. Likely me.

Hire someone to tow you. It won't cost much.
