So I want to put all (or most) of my dvd and blu-rays on my Tv so that I can just play what I want when I want. What should I use to do this, an external hard drive?
You need to rip them onto your PC/external into AVI , MKV, or what have you. You can find free apps or trials....just google DVD ripper/burner. Then dump onto your TV from the hard drive. Make sure you know what types of video files your TV can play.
I have uploaded some of my movies to iTunes using a DVD ripper, and I can then play it through my AppleTV on my HDTV. It works, but the files take up a lot of room. So you'd need a massive HD, and a method to route iTunes to it.
Yep, there are 2 versions of the WD TV live. One streams from a networked drive and one has a drive built in. They are on amazon.
We have a winner, I think? That is exactly what I was looking for that I never knew existed. Thank you so much.
