The last few days I have had a unique opportunity to listen the stern shows from 2008 2009 2007. While listening its extremely clear these were awesome shows. Everything was peaking, Artie Richard sal and incredible funny conversations. The phoney phone calls were the best. I have never realized how much I missed Artie as well. Even the pacing of the show were great. I have enjoyed them alot. But one thing struck me as very interesting. Somewhere at some point stern became obsessed as shutting up Richard and sal. Shutting up Artie. Allowing robin only to cackle nothing more. Shutting down all external elements of the show, Jeff levy, high pitch Eric, Joey boots, cabbie, the lie detector guy, hate man, angry Alice, Riley,Elliot Offen,Jeff the drunk, the clown dude. And these are just a few I noticed that have been banished. Wow it was funny good shows. Here is the question.....

What happened? Why Howard. Why? Wow I miss those shows.

My dear saloon friends what do you really think happened to make Howard blow off course so far. It can't be money cause 99% of the above mentioned were free. Serious theories please.

    electricity is "an amazing discovery."

    A little perspective here, perhaps?

This probably had alot to do with it. Also, Feltspot, if you can ever hear them, listen to the mid-90's during the OJ years. That is when I started listening and those were very funny, and today, Howard probably would not even say OJ was guilty.

I'm not even going to comment about how shitty the show was in those years, but what exactly made listening to old shows a "unique experience"?

Wiggy wanted to hang with the "in crowd". The Horse had allot to do with it I'm sure. He already had a ton of money.

Personal taste. I found those shows funny. Elliot big foot and Artie was enough of a balance.

Stern squashed the funny and he was the one who mixed it. What a shame.

Best quests was the horse face wrecked. And stern felt best way to be liked was to sanitize it. Imagine the pillow talk the horse lady had with him. Yoko Ono would be impressed.

I think another factor was he used to have to fight to get stuff on the air. Now he's the boss he's got no one to rebel against... except maybe the fans.

I remember some old shows where he HATED that scene. Alison liked some parts of it, but nowhere near the level of the Horse. Wiggy has become a huge starfucker since he got with Beth. This more than anything fucked up the show.

Well, one thing that Howard's never lied about was his desire to be famous. His earlier shows (late 80's and early through the 90's) consistently demonstrated that theme. His anger and jealousy over those with Hollywood fame drove him nuts.

He would've sold his kids' soul to the devil for it.

And now, history will be the judge as to whether or not the price he paid was too much.
